Post-Botox/Dysport Treatment Care Instructions
To ensure the best results from your Botox/Dysport treatment, please follow these important guidelines:
- Stay Upright: Avoid lying down for at least 4 hours after your treatment to prevent movement of the Botox/Dysport.
- No Massage: Refrain from massaging the treated area to avoid spreading the Botox/Dysport to unintended muscles.
- Medication Precautions: Please avoid medications and supplements like Aspirin, NSAIDs (e.g., Motrin, Advil, Aleve), green tea, fish oil, and Vitamin E for 7 days prior to your injection to reduce the risk of bruising. If you have prescribed medication, consult your doctor before discontinuing.
- Limit Physical Activity: Avoid strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours following your injection.
- Sun Protection: Stay out of direct sunlight on the treated area for 48 hours to minimize any potential irritation.
- Facial Treatments: Please avoid any other facial procedures in the treated area for at least 24 hours post-injection.
Potential Side Effects
While most patients tolerate Botox well, it’s important to be aware of possible side effects, including:
- Bruising or Swelling: Mild bruising or swelling may occur at the injection site.
- Headaches: Some individuals may experience headaches after treatment.

Pre and Post Filler Treatment Instructions
To ensure a safe and effective filler treatment, please carefully follow the instructions below:
Pre-Treatment Instructions
- Dental Procedures: Fillers cannot be performed if you have had any dental procedures, including routine cleanings, within 2 weeks prior to or after your filler appointment.
- Antibiotics: If you are currently taking antibiotics, we will need to reschedule your appointment until 2 weeks after your last dose.
- Vaccinations: Fillers cannot be performed if you have received any vaccinations within 2 weeks prior to your treatment or if you are scheduled to receive a vaccine within 2 weeks post-treatment.
- Blood Thinning Medications: To reduce the risk of bruising, please avoid medications and supplements that may thin your blood for at least 10 days prior to your treatment. This includes:
- Alcohol
- Aspirin
- NSAIDs (Advil, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Aleve, etc.)
- Fish oil
- Vitamin E
- Ginseng
- Green tea
- St. John’s Wort
- Arnica Forte: Consider taking Arnica Forte, a natural supplement that can help speed up recovery by reducing bruising and swelling. Start taking it 3 days before your treatment and continue for 7 days after your injection.
- Autoimmune Considerations: If you have an autoimmune disease, please inform us, as there may be an increased risk of an immune response to the filler. Patients on immunosuppressive therapy may have a higher risk of infection due to a suppressed immune response.
- Pregnancy and Nursing: Dermal fillers are contraindicated for pregnant or nursing mothers.
Post-Treatment Instructions
- Avoid Strenuous Exercise: Refrain from any strenuous exercise for the first 48 hours post-treatment to minimize swelling and bruising.
- Ice the area intermittently for the first 24 hours to minimize swelling.
- Sleep with head elevated if possible for the first 24-48 hours.
Potential Side Effects
- Swelling and Bruising: It’s very common to experience swelling and bruising at the injection site, which can last from 1 to 2 weeks after your lip filler procedure.
- Small Bumps: Some patients may notice small bumps in the first two weeks following treatment. These are typically normal and should smooth out over time. However, hardened lumps or granulomas may form as a reaction to the filler, which can be addressed during follow-up visits.
- Mild Pain and Discomfort: Given the sensitivity of the lips, mild pain and discomfort at the injection site are normal. This usually subsides within a few days.
- Asymmetry: After the filler settles, some asymmetry may occur. This is not uncommon and can often be adjusted in a follow-up appointment.
- Cold Sores: If you have a history of cold sores, there is a risk of outbreaks following treatment. We can prescribe medication to help prevent this if you inform us before your procedure.
- Itching: As the treated area heals, you may experience mild itching at the injection site. This is usually temporary and should resolve quickly.
- Risk of Infection: Anytime the skin barrier is penetrated, there is a potential risk of infection. We take every precaution to minimize this risk, but it’s important to follow all aftercare instructions.
